This summer, I found myself alone for a few days: a rare thing for a young mother, and an opportunity to go on a short cycling trip through Belgium! I discovered the ‘Secret Trip’ formula through the Welcome To My Garden website. Not having the time or courage to embark on a big adventure requiring a lot of organisation, it’s the perfect solution for me!
I want to leave in one week, but I can still sign up. The registration form is great: very detailed, and I can leave as much information as possible so that the perfect trip can be created for me. The trip is confirmed very quickly, and all I need to do now is pack my bags. Such a nice surprise to discover the first stage three days before departure! I’m also very impatient…
Finally, D-Day is here. The first pedal strokes are so liberating. I’m travelling alone, and by bike! Hehe. The GPS route is perfect. Just follow along and enjoy! The suggested points of interest and highlights enable me to plan my day whichever way I like. The route is entirely new to me, and Manon’s follow-up is amazing.
I absolutely loved sleeping in four different gardens, and especially meeting the WTMG ambassadors. I felt a little nervous when knocking on the first door, but I quickly felt at ease. The encounters were so nice: it’s great to discover other ways of life, and learn about other people’s passions and projects.
Slowby’s commitments are consistent with my values. This was an important aspect when I made my decision. To sum it all up, this first slow travel experience was just amazing. I warmly recommend the Slowby team, whether you are a novice or an experienced cyclist.
